Pressures in life can be the result of a nagging physical condition or a critical illness but sometimes you can’t really put you finger on the source of pressure but it seems like the daily demands and decisions of life just begin to get the best of you. As one author appropriately put it, “It’s the sand that constantly keeps getting into my shoes that almost drives me crazy.”

The Parable of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15 tells the story of a man and his two sons. Neither son loved the father for himself. They both were using the father for their own self-centered ends rather than loving, enjoying, and serving him for his own sake. This means that you can rebel against God and be alienated from him either by breaking his rules or by keeping all of the diligently.”

In this third chapter of the Gospel of John we are introduced to a man by the name of Nicodemus. In contrast to both Zacchaeus and the Samaritan Woman, Nicodemus was a very religious man.

This is the Jesus you need to know. When you decide that something in your life needs to change, that there are a few things that need to be shifted within your heart – you will discover, as Zacchaeus did, that God already knows this and is waiting for you. He knows your need even here this morning. He knows your name. He knows the challenges of your life. And he’s ready to go home with you and start this internal reconstruction journey with you.
