Pressures in life can be the result of a nagging physical condition or a critical illness but sometimes you can’t really put you finger on the source of pressure but it seems like the daily demands and decisions of life just begin to get the best of you. As one author appropriately put it, “It’s the sand that constantly keeps getting into my shoes that almost drives me crazy.”

I Am Second -The Prodigal

The Parable of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15 tells the story of a man and his two sons. Neither son loved the father for himself. They both were using the father for their own self-centered ends rather than loving, enjoying, and serving him for his own sake. This means that you can rebel against God and be alienated from him either by breaking his rules or by keeping all of the diligently.”

The world is sometimes a very evil place. The realities of bias, sexism, prejudice, and racism clearly show just how ugly and evil we can be toward one another. These things are not only true today but they’ve been true throughout all of human history and they were true in the days of Jesus. And they all find specific expression in a story that’s found in John 4.

When you decide that something in your life needs to change, that there are a few things that need to be shifted within your heart – you will discover, as Zacchaeus did, that God already knows this and is waiting for you. He knows your need even here this morning. He knows your name. He knows the challenges of your life. And he’s ready to go home with you and start this internal reconstruction journey with you.
